When it comes to basement troubles, moisture is the most common problem in the cellar. The moisture most commonly enters from outside sources though are also produced indoors also. Often, most homeowners are unaware that the soil around the basement walls can contain a large amount of moisture.
The reason for high moisture content in the soil may incorporate surface water that's seeping down into the ground or even out of a high water table. A high water table may be clarified by heavy rains which cause the water to rise higher than the cellar floor. Often, water can find its way inside a cellar by gravity or through a crack or defect in the water protection layer of the base. Water can also be pulled up by a " wicking action" or " pushed up" by hydrostatic pressure from the ground beneath the walls or flooring.
In the summer, warm moist air from outside can enter the home and result in condensation on the cool basement walls or flooring. In regions that may experience freezing temperatures, the following situation can occur if there's a crack gift: the water will go through the crack then freeze and expand. With each cold season, the crack will eventually get larger as a result of expansive properties of the frozen water.
